Way to go Volunteers, SPrKL couldn’t have done it without you!

25 Volunteers worked through the pouring rain on September 18th to get 200 plants planted and 175m of fence built at Creekside Park as part of the Coldstream Creek Restoration Project!

SPrKL received funding from EcoAction Community Funding, EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. and the District of Coldstream  for the Coldstream Creek Restoration Project.

The project allowed residents living along Coldstream Creek between Kirkland Dr. and McClounie Rd. the opportunity to obtain free riparian plants.  12 Residents out of 45 participated by receiving plants. Volunteers planted the plants at 4 of these residents.

40 people  attended the planting workshop at the Coldstream Municipality Hall on September 18th at 10:00 am and then watched as Melanie Steppuhn, Landscape Architect of EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. demonstrated how to plant near a creek.

20 Volunteers helped plant 200 plants and install 150 metres of protective cage wire around the plantings.

175  metres of rustic fencing was installed on the south side of the creek. Four men and some helpful students got the job done in under six hours!

The project has been a great success due to the efforts of many helpful hands.

Thank-you to everyone who helped in any way!
